[NEWS] SNSD to release Japanese version of “Run Devil Run” via ringtone + Hoot goes Gold

SNSD (Shoujo Jidai in Japan) is scheduled to release a Japanese version of their popular hit track “Run Devil Run” in Japan. However, it’s not going to be an official single like their previous releases.

Universal Music Japan recently updated their SNSD news page stating that the Japanese version of “Run Devil Run” will be released as a Chaku-uta or mobile ringtone on January 18th. The song will also be available via digital download on January 25th. Although no official date or word was given for an official single release, fans can assume that a Japanese version of “Run Devil Run” will eventually hit stores sometime in the near future.

In addition, the RIAJ has certified SNSD’s December 22nd release of ‘Hoot’ as Gold.

For reference, the RIAJ certifies Gold as 100,000 sales.

[NEWS] SNSD’s ‘Gee’ goes double platinum in Japan

The girls of SNSD are enjoying quite a bit of success in Japan. Today, the girls added another accomplishment to their belt as the RIAJ (Recording Industry Association of Japan) website updated their charts showing that SNSD’s Chaku Uta Full (ringtones) downloads for ‘Gee’ went Double Platinum.

The RIAJ certifies Platinum as moving 250,000 units so Double Platinum would mean that the girls had over 500,000 downloads for ‘Gee’!

Congratulations to the girls as we patiently wait for their next Japanese release on April 27th with ‘MR. TAXI.’

SNSD’s Sunny and Yoona cheer on CSJH’s Sunday for Opera Star

On April 16th, SNSD members Yoona and Sunny made an appearance at the Sangmyung Art Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul to support CSJH’s Sunday during her competition on tvN’s “Opera Star 2011“.

The day before on April 15th, an official from tvN revealed, “To support CSJH’s Sunday, who revealed her hidden skills and talents as well as her surprising growth during the 2nd round of ‘Opera Star’, her SNSD hoobaes (juniors), Yoona and Sunny, will be making a direct appearance.”

Unfortunately, during the recording on the 16th, despite the support from the girls, Sunday was eliminated from the competition. Sunday and singer Moon Hee Ok ended up in the bottom two, and the judges chose to keep Moon Hee Ok alive for another week – sending Sunday home.

Despite being eliminated, Sunday kept her spirits high as she stated, “Even in the future, I want to learn classical and opera singing. I think this was a really great opportunity.”

Tei was the winner for the second week running.

[Fashion]Celebrities love Valentino’s Lace Dress

Celebrities (L-R above) such as Im Su Jeong, Yeom Jeong Ah, Kim So Eun and SNSD’s Jessicahave been caught wearing the same Valentino lace dress over the span of about 3 months.

Im Su Jeong first wore the dress to a production briefing of Come Rain, Come Shine on January 20, 2011.

Yeom Jeong Ah then wore the dress about a month later at MBC Royal Family press conference on February 24, 2011.

Kim So Eun, ambassador of the 5th Korea International Youth Film Festival, wore the same dress to the press conference of the Film Festival on March 29, 2011.

The latest star to jump on the bandwagon is none other than, Jessica of Girls’ Generation who wore the dress to the Suecomma Bonnie fashion show during Seoul Fashion Week on March 31, 2011.

The extremely popular cocktail lace dress is designed by Valentino for their Resort 2011 collection. It’s currently retailing for USD$3980.00 on valentino.com.

[Fashion] SNSD for ‘Marie Claire’

“Pure” was the concept for this photoshoot, and so the girls donned ruffles and lace dresses to not only portray feminine images, but give off a romantic mood. Fans were gasped particularly over Seohyun’s cover because she displayed the image of a more mature woman.

Project stylist Kim Woo Ri commented, “Normally, there are a lot of girlish and fancy styles, but SNSD was able to exhibit the innocent concept the best.“

[NEWS] Ex-PD of “I Am A Singer” names his virtual list of idol contestants for the show

Kim Young Hee PD, the ex-producer of the hit series “I Am A Singer“, met up with reporters on April 18th and named his list of idols who are capable of appearing on the show.

His picks were revealed to be IU, JYJ’s Junsu and SNSD’s Taeyeon. He personally tried to have IUappear on the program, but because he quit the show, he couldn’t fulfill his dream.

The program is comprised of artists who are applauded for their singing abilities.

The initial line-up included Kim Bum Soo, Kim Gun Mo, Lee Sora, Jung Yeob, Park Jung Hyun,Baek Ji Young, and Yoon Do Hyun; after a few members left or were eliminated from the show, the new line-up boasts Lim Jae Bum, Kim Yeon Woo, and BMK.

“I Am A Singer” led the ‘revolution’ in the music industry for bringing back ‘real singers’ to the spotlight with this reality variety program. The show is going to start airing again on May 1st, after spending a month-long hiatus to change a few aspects.

On the evening of April 18th, Jinny Kim, a shoe designer, opened up a new store at the Finance Center in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.

This glamorous grand opening attracted SNSD’s Yoona, Tiffany, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, and Sunny. With their fresh beauty and slim figures, one reporter even called them ‘walking dolls’.

Jinny Kim Shoes is attractive to many of Korea’s top stars, as it possesses the unique design and colors fit for the romantic lifestyle of celebrities.

[NEWS] SNSD Taeyeon Kidnapping – Brave Sunny Steps Up

We brought you the news about how Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation (SNSD) was grabbed by an unidentified man mid-performance at the Angel Price Music Festival on April 17th. Then we told you how Taeyeon decided not to press charges against the man. But did you notice fellow member Sunny courageously stepping up to block the man?

At the time, Sunny was dancing right next to Taeyeon. Once she realized the situation, Sunny stopped dancing, followed Taeyeon and the man offstage, and interfered with the incident. Many fan videos captured her courageous act, and she’s been in the spotlight since.

Her firm, decisive, and honorable attitude in handling the situation has earned her praises and even more fans. Many netizens’ (Korean jargon for citizens on the net = net+izens) comments praising Sunny have surfaced the internet, and they include: “Sunny’s amazing!” “I wish I had a friend like her!” “Her actions were brave, and you can tell she wasn’t afraid of the situation.” “She didn’t even hesitate one second before taking action.”

Taeyeon was able to break free from the stranger with the help of Sunny, comedian Oh Jung Tae, and security guards without any harm. Both Taeyeon and Sunny returned to the stage to continue their remaining two performances to Hoot and Gee.

It’s been said that the unidentified man is actually a college student. Coupang, the social commerce business that put together the Angel Price Music Festival, released an official apology regarding the incident and stated that fans who purchased the concert tickets through Coupang will receive a full refund. Currently, Taeyeon is taking a short break to recover from the happening.
